What is Goonology?

On a stoned and stormy evening sometime towards the end of 1991, I was visiting a Canadian friend named Tim Bremser and, in the course of our conversation, I called somebody a Goon.

"What's a goon?" Tim asked. Apparently, goons don't exist in Canada. Or perhaps they go by a different name there?

"You don't know what a goon is?" I responded, at a loss to explain the term.

Tim handed me a brand new artist's sketchpad and a couple of felt markers. "Come on," he urged, "draw me a goon!"

For the next hour or so, I couldn't stop drawing goons. Here they are in all their glory, a quarter-century down the line... an entire Gallery of Goons!
